How to use the HEALTHY DISTANCE Online Course
The Healthy Distance Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, issued to successful trainees, will confirm compliance with the training requirements of the Food Hygiene Regulations. It denotes the completion of a course using a quality checked training pack and is separate from the National Qualifications Framework.
This course is designed to minimise the disadvantages of studying on your own and maximise the benefits of distance-learning.
The basic principles of food hygiene are set out in easy to understand language with helpful pictures, charts and diagrams. After every major topic a Summary is given bringing together all the main points that have been covered.
Throughout the course you will find exercises to complete. Some of these are things for you to look out for at work or home, whilst others are Computer Marked Tests . At the end of the course there will be a Final Test for you to complete. When you have completed the Final Test you can print off a certificate - if you are successful

The course is set out in Sections and Topics. At the left side of the screen you will see that the course consists of 7 Sections. Each section has a number of topics associated with it. To see the topics associated with a section move your mouse over the section and the topics will appear to the right of the list.
At various stages there are tests to pass before you can move on to the next stage. The section tests are at the end of sections B,C and G. Your progress is shown in the box at the left of the screen. The key to the symbols is;
= Test Not Taken
= Test Failed at Last Attempt
= Test Passed
After successfully completing the final test at the end of the course you can print off your Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
Even after you have completed the course you can go back to it for revision purposes at any time. You can even take the final test again.
